1 FLIPPED CLASSROOM ACTIVITY CONSTRUCTOR – USING EXISTING CONTENT

2 About this constructor
This activity constructor document is aimed at assisting teachers in designing Flipped Classroom Activity in their own course using existing content. This guide will deal with Open Education Resources (OER’s) or those licensed under Creative Commons. The slides with white background are information sheets. The slides with Pale-yellow background require you to provide inputs. Replace the text written in BLUE with your input. This will be followed by an example input.

5 Out-of-class Activity Design -1
Learning Objective(s) of Out-of-Class Activity Students will be able to know what is acidic and basic nature. 2. Students will be able to identify acidic and basic nature of fruits , vegetables and water samples from different sources. 3.Students will be able to know Chemical reaction of acid and bases. Key Concept(s) to be covered Acidic and basic nature and use of indicators . 2. Chemical properties of acids and bases. 3. Different reactions of acids and bases .

Aligning Assessment with Learning Objective Learning Objective Assessment Strategy Expected duration (in min) Additional Instructions (if any) Know acidic and basic nature Chemical properties of different products used in daily life Find the different chemical reactions happening around us. Find the nature of common fruits Find the chemical properties of different things used in daily life Find the different reactions taking place around us. 10 minutes 15 minutes Watch the video and indentify the nature Watch the video and use the different indicators. Watch the video and use the experimentalmethods 40 minutes Expected activity duration ** It is recommended that total duration of activity and video should not be greater than one lecture duration.

8 In-class Segment This section helps you design the in-class segment of Flipped Classroom Strategy.

9 In-class Activity Design -1
Learning Objective(s) of In - Class Activity At the end of the class students will be able to identify the nature of different things example water, fruits, vegetables etc At the end of the class students will be able to know the chemical properties and reactions of acids and bases. Key Concept(s) to be covered Identification of nature of things around us. 2. Implementation of knowledge in day to day life.

10 In-class Activity Design -2
Active Learning activity(ies) that you plan to do Find the nature of common fruits , vegetables . Students are asked to collect different sources of water sample. Explain the strategy by giving details of 1. Students are divided in to groups for collecting samples from different sources, teacher will tell to use different methods to find the nature. 2.Students will use different methods and indicators to find the nature. Justify why the above is an active learning strategy Students will apply the knowledge to identify the nature of thing used in day to day life. 2. Students will also find out chemical reactions happening around us. 3.Students will discuss with their peer of the methods they had used to indentify the nature. 4. This is active learning strategy because students had collected the real samples and done the analysis. 5. This is real time analysis of thing presents around us.

11 Instructions to students for doing out of class activity
Students were asked to collect water sample from different sources and know their nature by using simple methods. Students were asked to observe the nature of different things present around us. Students were asked to collect the rain water sample and observe its nature. Students were asked to find the reason for its nature.

12 In-class Activity Design -2
TPS Strategy – What Teacher does Think (~2 minutes) Instruction: Think on different sources available from where students can collect the samples. Students think individually and collect the samples.

13 In-class Activity Design -2
TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Pair (~5 minutes) Instruction: Students pair up and compare the results. While students are pairing and discussing, instructor goes to students to see What methods they are using for analysing the different samples.

14 In-class Activity Design -2
TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Share (~10 minutes) Teacher asks a group to share their answer with class and see whether there are different answers. Students got different results because their sources of samples were different. Students also share that due to different level of pollution and pesticides samples were having different nature.

15 OUT OF CLASS ASSESMENT Students were asked to give reason why water is acidic or basic in nature. Students collected different sample of fruits and vegetables , now they were asked to give the reasons for its present nature. Students were assesed on the basis of number of samples they have collected and analysed with the reason for its particular nature. From all these activities students were assesed.
