2-3 IR Novels per Quarter Quarter 1 Quarter 2 Quarter 3
Friday, October 2nd Friday, October 16th Quarter 2 Friday, November 20th Friday, December 11th Friday, January 8th Quarter 3 Friday, February 12th In addition to the in-class novels we read, you will choose 2-3 novels of leisure. (Two in quarters 1 & 4 and three in quarters 2 &3.) 3-4 sentence summaries are to be written for each chapter as a reading log. Chapter and date is required. There will be a final product required for each IR novel. Approach papers will cover the novel’s literary significance as well as the CC objectives.

Genre for IR Novels- FICTION
Historical Fiction Realistic Fiction Science Fiction Mystery Fantasy Crime Horror Non-Fiction You will be given opportunities to read and analyze a variety of non-fiction (informational texts), but the IR novel projects are not the time to choose such texts. All IR novels are to be FICTION.

IR Novel Criteria Find books with the appropriate lexile and content.
No books with pictures (including graphic novels) Books should have 200+ pages on average. Choose a book you have not read before. No more than 2 books in a series (exception-trilogies)
