2 GREEN/GO FOODS Should be Consumed Often
Whole, natural state (little to no processing) Very few calories, sugar, salt and unhealthy fats Nutrient dense Usually fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins & unsweetened 1% milk

3 YELLOW/SLOW FOODS Should be Consumed Sometimes (less frequently/watch portions) Fall between the whole food and the highly processed food Higher in fat, sugar, salt and calories than GO foods, but less than WHOA foods Usually refined grain foods, lean proteins, sweetened fruits, flavored 1% milks

4 RED/WHOA FOODS Should be Consumed Minimally (once in a while/small portions) Highly processed state High in calories, sugar, salt and unhealthy fats Empty calories (calorie dense) Usually cakes, cookies, candy, chips, fried foods, fatty meats, sodas, sugary cereals
