1 Transactional Giving Not Galas or Auctions
A few ideas that work at Baylor University May 22, 2018

2 A few things to know… Work with your legal department to ensure all sales tax issues are addressed. Stewardship has to be handled differently. You don’t want to be in competition or handle inventory. Short-term project based approaches work best. It has been effective in engaging younger alumni and students. In FY18, we have had almost 6,000 donors through transactional giving as of 5/1/2018.

3 A few that work at Baylor
Here are a few examples of some of the recent transactional giving opportunities we are doing at Baylor. T-Shirt Sales Christmas Ornaments Bearathon Event Grandstand Tickets

4 T-Shirt Promotions We are going to running multiple t-shirt donation opportunities throughout the year. A few populations we are targeting… Faculty and Staff for a Spirit T-Shirt to benefit the Baylor Compassion Fund attached to our Giving Day in August. Students for: Senior Class Gift T-Shirt. Overall student t-shirt tied to Day of the Bear in April. Move-In Day T-Shirts for incoming Parents. $5 out of each $15 transaction is a gift.

5 Gift Response immediately emailed to each donor.
$5 is the gift (not receipted.) T-shirt cost includes tax on $15. Cost of T-shirt is between $7-8.

6 Confirmation Page includes breakdown of transaction.
Optional additional Gift. In less than two weeks with 1 , & 1 posting FB over 250 t-shirts.

7 Christmas Ornaments Appeals happen… October & November each year
ed through Baylor ENEWS Included in Baylor Magazine Social Media Ads used Results: - 2,082 Donors. - Just under 3,000 ornaments in total. - Over $50,000 went toward Missions after expenses.

9 Gift Response immediately emailed to each donor.
Donor transaction at $38.00. $19 is the gift – and was receipted. Ornament cost was just under $10. Fulfillment Cost about $9 per piece.

10 Stewardship Email to all participants the week before Christmas –
sharing the impact. Gift Receipting for all gifts. Articles in Baylor Proud, Baylor Magazine, and social media posts. - Handle all customer service issues. Excluded from: all first time donor acknowledgement Standard stewardship acknowledgements

11 Bearathon ½ Marathon and 6K Run

12 $5 per transaction was entered as a gift.
Results for FY18: Just at 1800 Runners $5 per transaction was entered as a gift. Stewardship handled by Stu Fu as part of the Race wrap-up. Excluded from: First-time donor acknowledgement Standard Stewardship Protocols.

13 Grand Stand Tickets Reserved Seating at Homecoming.
Each donor bought on average 3-4 tickets. Advertised through ticket sales by ICA & Homecoming promotions. Raised funds for Student Foundation Scholarships. Excluded from: all first time donor acknowledgement Standard stewardship acknowledgements
