ACEC Life/Health Trust WELLNESS Vision
The Designed Wellness Program will: Address the unique needs of our members Achieve outstanding health outcomes Distinguish the Consulting Engineer industry as the healthiest in the U.S.

Who can participate? All employees and spouses of your firm are eligible to participate in the Designed Wellness program and will have access to all of the features of the web portal and biometric screenings. Your participation in the program is voluntary.

Incentive Employees and spouses that are currently covered by the ACEC Life/Health Trust’s medical insurance plan are eligible to earn an incentive for participating in the program and completing specific requirements. Employees and spouses not covered by the plan are not eligible to earn the incentive, but can still participate and use all of the features of the program.

Confidentiality The program is on a secure web portal and is HIPAA compliant to protect your personal health information. The Trust, your employer and health insurance carrier will NOT receive any individually identifiable medical information. ACEC Life/Health Trust will receive aggregated information about the data collected in order to help identify the current and future health risks in member firms’ employee population.

Goals of the Program Provide you with information about your current health status. Help you set realistic wellness goals. Arm you with tools and resource to help you reach your goals. Each of us can take steps, even small ones, to improve our overall well-being. We hope you will join us by participating in this worthwhile effort.

Personal Health Assessment
Used to help you identify your current health status and any potential issues and risks 35 survey items Questions change depending on how you respond Takes 15 minutes to complete Stored online in personal account for your review

Biometric Screenings Biometric screenings are a series of health tests that can offer insight about your health status. Screenings take approximately minutes and feature: Measurements of your cholesterol and blood glucose (sugar) levels via a finger stick blood draw Blood pressure reading Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation, from your height and weight Waist Circumference

Preparing for a Screening
Fasting is required to produce meaningful results. You should not eat or drink anything, except water, for 9 to 12 hours prior to their screening. Drinking water is highly recommended. Take all medications as directed by your Physician and ask for a non-fasting screening if you cannot fast.

Biometric Screenings Can be completed in 3 ways: onsite screening, at Community Access Provider, or with personal physician. Sign up for onsite screenings or schedule an appointment at a Community Access provide within your account Community Access providers: Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp, and Walgreens Healthcare Clinic Physician Form available on web portal

Screening Results The screening results are completely confidential to each participant and will only be uploaded to the RedBrick Health web portal to help participants manage their overall wellness. Their individual results will not be shared with ACEC or their company.

Next Steps Consult After completing the Biometric Screening and Personal Health Assessment, the Next Steps Consults is the next stage in the program. It is a personalized 15 minute consultation with a health care professional to support and guide participants in healthy actions and providing recommendations in the best RedBrick Health program. Participants engagement in a wellness program increases with participation in a Next Steps Consult.

Telephonic Health Coaching
Gives you the opportunity to partner with a knowledgeable health coach over the telephone who will provide support and education to help you reach your personal health goals One kickoff session (up to 30 minutes) with a health coach to get an overview of the program, set initial goals, and establish a relationship Each additional session lasts between minutes and you can schedule them at your convenience

Health Journeys After taking the assessment and/or screening, you'll receive a healthy living score, a report on your health status, and recommended directions designed to help you. Self-guided programs that cover a variety of health and fitness topics including stress management, exercise and healthy living, living tobacco free, blood pressure reductions, and nutrition and healthy eating. You get to pick the healthy steps—which may incorporate activities as well as brief videos—that appeal to you, and unlock new levels of healthy habits as you go. Continue to personalize your experience by giving feedback on the steps you like and the ones you don’t.

Track or Sync Physical Activity
RedBrick Track is a tool designed to help you build and reinforce these healthy habits in just a few minutes each day. Track 30 minutes of physical activity each day and start to see what matters most to your overall health. Connect your activity tracking devices/apps: you can sync activity tracking devices or apps with the web portal and have all physical activity data automatically transfer. Compatible devices, apps and programs such as Fitbit®, RunKeeper™, Fitbug®, BodyMedia® and Jawbone®. If you don’t have an activity tracking device or app, you can manually enter any physical activity that you are doing.

Health Challenges With fun themes and the camaraderie of being part of a team, these exciting, social challenges give you the opportunity to fire up your competitive spirit. Each challenge and its registration date will be announced before the event begins. Look for opportunities to participate throughout the year. All Challenges are administered by ACEC Life/Health Trust

As I mentioned before, if it is found that you have three or more Risk Factors for metabolic syndrome, or your fasting glucose score exceeds 100, you must complete at least eight weeks of a Health Improvement Program to satisfy the Designed Wellness requirement. The good news is you have the choice of participating in one of two nationally recognized, state-of-the-art programs—at no cost to you!

Naturally Slim and Real Appeal
Purpose Weight loss Metabolic syndrome reduction Change how you eat instead of what you eat Lifestyle intervention Use scientific principles to look and feel better Small, steady, sustainable steps Platform Online One-hour weekly video lessons Personalized instruction and support from a coach Live coaching in individual and group sessions Tools Provided Online tracker, support and community Journal and measuring tape Pedometer, blender, scale, food scale, portion plate, water bottle, workout DVD, nutrition guide and more You have the option of participating in the Naturally Slim or Real Appeal programs. Naturally Slim focuses primarily on weight loss and metabolic syndrome reduction. You work on changing how you eat instead of what you eat. On the other hand, Real Appeal is more focused on changing your lifestyle using scientific principles. Both programs help you take small, steady, sustainable steps to building a healthier future. Both programs are online and offer coaching, and each comes with its own set of tools, including a robust member website that allows you to track your progress and get support from the community.

Health Improvement Program Options
Naturally Slim Real Appeal Full Program Duration Up to 10 weeks Up to 52 weeks Designed Wellness Requirement (to earn $100 towards incentive) 8 weeks You can participate in the Naturally Slim program for up to 10 weeks, and in the Real Appeal program for up to 52 weeks. However, the minimum requirement for Designed Wellness is 8 weeks’ participation. However, rest easy: The programs are not outcome-based. Rather, they are participation-based. Even though you may not reach your goals within the 8 weeks, you’ll still meet the Designed Wellness requirement by participating!

Local Firm Healthy Activities
Firms are able to provide points to employees for healthy activities done within the firm. Points can be awarded for activities such as participating in a lunch and learn, health fair, 5k, marathon, and any other activities your wellness champion offers.
