2 Reverence Abraham fell down before God (Gen 17:3) Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: Genesis 17:3

3 Reverence Reverence where God is (Ex 3:5) Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” Exodus 3:5

4 Reverence People trembled before God (Ex 19:16-24) Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. 17 And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.

5 Reverence People trembled before God (Ex 19:16-24) And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice. 20 Then the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. 21 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to gaze at the Lord, and many of them perish. 22 Also let the priests who come near the Lord consecrate themselves, lest the Lord break out against them.”

6 Reverence People trembled before God (Ex 19:16-24) But Moses said to the Lord, “The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai; for You warned us, saying, ‘Set bounds around the mountain and consecrate it.’ ” 24 Then the Lord said to him, “Away! Get down and then come up, you and Aaron with you. But do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the Lord, lest He break out against them.” Exodus 19:16-24

7 Reverence People trembled before God (Ex 19:16-24) “Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’? Isaiah 45:9

9 Reverence for God’s Word & House
Serve God with reverence (Heb 12:28) Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. Hebrews 12:28

10 Reverence for God’s Word & House
Trembled at the word of God (Ezra 9:4) Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel assembled to me, because of the transgression of those who had been carried away captive, and I sat astonished until the evening sacrifice. Ezra 9:4

11 Reverence for God’s Word & House
Fear came upon them (Acts 5:11; 2:43) So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things. Acts 5:11 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Acts 2:43

Reverence toward God’s house (Lev 19:30) “You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary: I am the Lord. Leviticus 19:30 “Sanctuary” – is a holy place

13 Reverence for God’s Word & House
Serve God with reverence (Heb 12:28) Trembled at the word of God (Ezra 9:4) Fear came upon them (Acts 5:11; 2:43) Reverence toward God’s house (Lev 19:30)

14 Reverence for Kings & Rulers
Reverence for rulers (2 Peter 2:10) and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority… 2 Peter 2:10a

15 Reverence for Kings & Rulers
Esteem elders highly for work (1 Thess 5:12-13) And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

16 Reverence for Kings & Rulers
Receive & hold in respect (Phil 2:29) Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem; Philippians 2:29

17 Reverence for Kings & Rulers
Reverence for rulers (2 Peter 2:10) Esteem elders highly for work (1 Thess 5:12f) Receive & hold in respect (Phil 2:29)

18 Reverence for Parents for Kings & Rulers
Reverence/respect for parents (Ex 20:12, Lev 19:3) “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12 “Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father… Leviticus 19:3a

19 Reverence for Parents for Kings & Rulers
Woe, if respect not parents (Isa 45:10) Woe to him who says to his father, ‘What are you begetting?’ Or to the woman, ‘What have you brought forth?’ ” Isaiah 45:10

Reverence/respect for parents (Ex 20:12, Lev 19:3) Woe, if respect not parents (Isa 45:10)

21 Conclusion The Christian must have reverence towards God.
The Christian must have reverence towards His Word. The Christian must have reverence for leaders. The Christian must for their parents.
