Receiving the Gift of REBUKE
Few of us enjoy being corrected or rebuked; our pride gets in the way. But the Scriptures teach us to view rebuke as a gift. If we will consider our sins in view of the cross, we will realize that any rebuke cannot expose more of our faults than have already been exposed by the death of our Savior.

The Cross teaches us to… Receive Rebuke
The cross does away with self & pride (Gal. 2:20; Matthew 16:24) We must admit our sin (Rom. 3:9-13; 1 Pet. 3:18; 1 John 2:2) We must admit our continued need for forgiveness (1 John 1:7-10) We are forced to recognize rebuke for the gift that it is (cf. Psalm 141:5)

Tips for Receiving Rebuke
View it as a gift. Listen without interrupting. Don’t get defensive. Don’t argue back. Don’t point out the other’s faults. Thank the one who rebuked you. Thank God. Confess the faults you recognize. Consider the faults you don’t recognize. Meditate on the rebuke. Pray.
