4. Example of a recent project: Pembroke Port Mole
Agenda
Essentially a small breakwater in an exposed location
Built around WW11 using concrete filled sandbags
No foundations
Undermined over time
Structure continuing to deteriorate

Difficulty of access (people, plant and materials)
Risk of collapse (various)
Tidal inundation
Soft ground
Constraints on permanent work limits
… plus commercial risks
