Donning with PAPR
No personal items in room;
e.g. jewelry, cell phone
Perform hand hygiene
Assemble PAPR: hood/hose/pack
Don 1st pair Gloves (sterile)
Don Shoe cover/booties
Don Head cover
Don PAPR power-pack & hood
Don Gown
ED/ ICU/OB: Don apron
Tuck gloves under gown sleeve
Don 2nd pair Gloves (sterile)
Over gown sleeve
Monitor verifies correct PPE
Disinfect outer gloves
Enter room
Doffing with PAPR
Disinfect with PDI wipes or foam or gel between all steps
Disinfect PPE with wipes if visibly contaminated
Disinfect outer gloves & remove apron & disinfect
BUDDY assist with bootie removal (with nurse sitting)
Disinfect outer glove & remove: if inner glove is compromised- followed detailed list with “Monitor”
BUDDY unties the “outer waste tie” of gown
Remove Gown: Grasp at shoulder/pulling as you roll off and “breaking” the inside tie as you roll outside of gown “inward” folding outside away from your body.
Removing gloves as you are rolling gown off arms: roll gloves into gown.
Avoid outside of contaminated gown.
Perform hand hygiene. Leave room & Don clean gloves
Monitor dons gown & gloves; supports power pack as you unfasten & remove the belt & pack.
Remove PAPR hood, disconnect hood & hose
Discard PAPR hood & discard head cover.
Monitor takes hose and pack: and discard in washbasin.
While sitting; disinfect all shoe surfaces with wipe
Both persons remove gloves & perform hand hygiene
Visitors: Must be instructed by Monitor before entering room: only 1 at a time
