Match 1: 2 goal game Match 2: 4 goal game Match 3: 4 goals, 3 zone game; must score from inside the end zone (shot locations) Match 4: 6 goal game Lay out pinnies in each goal before they start: keep pinnies on and move to the next game.

Week 1: Session 1: 1v1s Red v Yellow; Physical literacy, race, receive pass from coach to score into 1 of 4 goals. Orange v Yellow; 1v1 transitions. After trying to score, quickly react to defend the next player Blue, White, Sky Blue 2v2 transitions. Try to create 2v1s and look to pass behind. 8 seconds time limit to shoot.

Week 1: Session 2: Counter Attacking
Group 1: 3v1 counter attack White comes out to defend 3v1. Yellow must attack quickly and play into the stride of the wide attackers. After Yellow finish, 3 blues attack on the same side, the far side white must react early to push out and defend higher. Group 2: 3v2 CF support. Evade pressure from the 1st player to pass forward. If the 2 win possession, they make a quick forward pass into the CF to go 1v1 on GK.

Week 1: Session 3: Midfield defending and forward passing
Split into 4 groups of 6. Each group has a Defensive Midfielder/CB, a line of 4 midfielders, and a CF. The DM/CB should cover behind the line of 4 and look to block forward passes either into the CF or the goals The midfield 4 work as a group to prevent penetration and press as the ball travels The CF can press the team in possession to direct play to allow the midfield to shift over to intercept.

Coaches can choose which possession games will be used. Priorities; Body shape, creating connections, positioning behind the press, combinations to move forward, making decisions before receiving Principles; Overloading vertically Overloading horizontally Positioning ‘inside the block’ Connections wide-channel-centre

Week 2: Session 2: Counter Attacking
In the 1v0-2v1-3v2-4v3 game, change the players group each time so that different players attack and defend different situations. Encourage kids to pick equal teams In the 2v2, add a shot clock of 6 seconds to push the speed of play and speed of decisions made and the quality of execution under pressure.

Week 2: Session 3: Pressing High
Match Play 9v9 3-4-1 defending to 2-3-3 pressing Mark out 4 quarters on the field and ask 4 players to be in the quarter where the ball is; one player per corner or covering in a diamond if the ball is towards the centre

Week 3: Session 1: Dynamic Shooting
Soccer tennis; working on air receives and volleying. 1 bounce, 3 touch limit. 1-2, through ball; player runs onto a forward pass to finish 1st time. GK can rush out as the ball leaves the foot of Red. 6 dribblers, 4 defenders, 2 blockers. Carry pinnies. Dribblers cannot score into a goal where a blocker is. If defenders win the ball, they switch pinnies with the attacker.

Week 3: Session 3: Wide Attacking
Players look for quick combinations in and out of the opposition shape to open up a diagonal wide pass After the wide pass, we look for low, curved passes between the GK and defenders, or cutbacks to the edge of the box.

Session 3: mid-block defending
Set up; Organise an area where we leave the outside channels 8m outside, where we set up to regain possession in the wide zone. With 2 zones, we want 3 in each zone With 3 zones, we can leave 1 zone free behind or infront of the block and block space behind the midfield or infront of the midfield depending on how the opponent sets up.

Session 2: POSSESSION TRANSFERS in build up
3 Groups of 12: 4v2 + 4v2 Players transfer play to the far side after evading the 1st 2 defender. Session 3: Pressing After you regain possession, pass short to turn and open up play on the far side. If you lose possession, either counter press quickly, or get into an established shape on the other side and look to regain possession and transfer to the other side. Press with 4 players Always leave 2 on the far side to transfer play, disperse and re-start play in possession while the opponent press with 2 players less. You can do this 4v6, 5v7 or 6v8 depending on numbers

1v1/2v2/3v3 counter attacking on the left 1v0/2v1/3v2/4v3 counter attacking on the right Continual Attacking for 4 minutes, followed by 2 minute rest. Repeat up to 12 minutes After this, we then switch sides and play the overload counter attack game on the other side

Session 3: mid-block defending
Back 3 play in line with the winger, DM covers infront of the CB. AM covers between CF who presses and WM who block the wide passes. If the ball moves around the WM, The FB and WM can defend 2v1/2v2, with the DM able to cover the space left by the FB. The AM will drop into the DM zone and regain the 3-1 shape at the back

Session 2: Counter Attack 2v2; 6 reps x 3 sets
Each group quickly counter attack then race back to defend. Coaching point: before an attack ends, the player without the ball should move central into a defending position to delay the next attack and give time for the team mate to recover The attacking team should try to hit the far side away from the attack to exploit the space and 2v1 situation

Session 3: zonal pressing 3-1-3-1; 6 zones
Diagonal 1st press from CF on 1st pass, WM moves up to block forward pass down line CM covers between the 2, screening pass into CF Far side winger either moves up to control circulation, or drops off to cover the long pass. Far side CB is the free player who moves between CB and CM to control the space Team can press high as a block, or wait until the middle zone and press from there.
