4 find probabilities and put them on a number line
Main 1: find probabilities and put them on a number line For each of the events and outcomes in the starter activity, describe them in as many different mathematical ways as possible and put each of those descriptions on appropriate places on the number line. 1

7 Main 2: Chance The likelihood that a particular outcome will occur.
the key words Chance The likelihood that a particular outcome will occur. Probability The chance that a particular outcome will occur, measured as a ratio of the total number of possible outcomes. Event A single result of an experiment Random A selection that is chosen purely by chance, with no predictability. Predictable To tell about something in advance of its occurrence by use of special knowledge Sample space All the possible outcomes of an experiment Theoretical probability The probability that a certain outcome will occur based on all possible outcomes. Experimental probability Derived from the results of experiments, the total number of successes divided by the total number of trials. Bias Favouring some outcomes over others. Outcome One of the possible results of a probability experiment.
