Do Now: Read a cartoon and profiles of late 19thc industrialists and respond to questions that follow.

4 Monopoly: A business so large that it controls an entire industry (such as steel production, oil production, railroad building). Monopolies are created when a business buys up or runs its competitors out of business. Trust: a kind of monopoly where competing companies merge and become trustees of one big company.
