3. HISTORY
Started life in the late 1980’s as the Anti Racial Harassment Group
Multi Agency group led by a variety of different agencies before the MKREC took it over in early 2000’s

4. HISTORY
Same time as Stephen Lawrence Enquiry so developed Reporting centre system.
Offered training to organisations
Supported those who had experienced Racist Incidents including employment based incidents

5. HISTORY
Became known as Best Practice for third party reporting centres.
At it’s height it had over 50 centres. ‘

6. HISTORY In 2009 it became the Anti Hate Crime Group
Covering Race, Religion, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Disability

7. AHCG The AHCG followed much of the best practice of the ARHG.
However there was a key change, we moved away from static centres where the onus was on the victim, instead, we trained staff to identify hate crime.
We continued to support victims throughout the process.
Started to offer Counselling and empowerment courses
Raising awareness not just through training organisations but also community groups.

8. AHCG Receive Case Close Case
Support Individual, i.e help report to police, contact other agencies, case conferencing
Close Case
Offer Counselling and Empowerment Courses at least 6 weeks after closure

9. Victims Experience
‘I just wanted to say a big thank you for this opportunity as it has helped me come to terms so much with what happened with my neighbours at my last address and helped me to start to enjoy my new home. Thank you once again for all you support as it really has made a difference’

Developing HC Champions to volunteer and help with the project
Training organisations to identify hate crime and develop Reporting Centres where appropriate
Develop Case Conferencing system to ensure all agency that need to have sight of specific cases
