1 Charging in the right places

2 Good Morning Everyone, Electric Vehicles are here, and the charging of EV is obviously vital, get it wrong and it can not only cost money but more importaintly people lose confidance in the technology and it becomes detrimental to the whole purpose of electrification. I wanted to take the time this morning to give you guys some guidance and pointers from the experience we have picked up in over 2500 chargepoint installations throughout the UK. We have seen the good the bad & the ugly and with some real consideration as to where and how EV charging infrastructure is planned, mistakes can be avoided.

7 Public & Staff Charging in the workplace
Predictable or overnight charging Response & On-Call Vehicles The type of vehicle usage and dwell time of the vehicle, getting the correct amount of the right equipment is essensial.

8 Charger Selection Considerations
Type of vehicle Dwell time Location of Equipment Ease of Access Localised Power Capacity Charger & Public Security Destination Charging or Journey Charging Not all vehicles rapid charge, in fact the majority of hybrids on fast charge, so the location of the equipment relative to the type of the vehicle use is super important. How long will vehicles stay in a certain location? Metrocentre Vrs a Fuel Forecourt on the A1 Equipment located beside Offices, Equipment at Leisure Centres, Equipment at Supermarkets Is the equipment easy to locate, are there any height restrictions or does the carpark close at a certain time, all these factors need to be considered. Believe it or not power capacity is almost always the biggest issue when siting charging equipment. Placing charging equipment in a well lit, safe environment needs to be a consideration for individuals that may have to wait whilst charging, placing equipment in a poorly lit rough area may place users at risk. Is the chargepoint at a destination such as the seaside or a tourist destination? Or is the equipment needed to charge on a journey, different needs will dictate the type.
