Not a Small project!!! A fully electrified line from London Paddington though to Bristol Parkway and through to Cardiff. When? Mostly at night Why? The licence issued to operate the railway stipulates that disruption should be kept to a minimum Why LA interested? Major Project with considerable disruption to line side neighbours and beyond over a number of years.

Why is Wiltshire Council Involved?
We have over 30 mile of line on two separate routes 1 Station refurb, 14 road bridges, 3 footbridges, 2 aqueducts, 2 tunnels and 30 miles of piling both ways The work is NOISY and undertaken at night through the week, weekends and at holiday times. In order to control noise the contractor contractually tied in to apply for a section 61 Consent under Control of Pollution Act 1974

What is being done? De-vegetation along the line – 8 meters or up to boundary. Raising bridges and lowering track through tunnels, creates space for the Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) Foundations piles 1500 (Piled and concrete), erection of masts along the line to support the OLE Run the electric wires between the masts once erected Construction of Auto Transformer Feeding Sites (ATFS) Signalling Cables Temporary roads/Heightening of parapets
