Regional highlights from the 2017 BC Child Poverty Report Card – Okanagan-Similkameen In Okanagan-Similkameen, 2,580 children are living in poverty: more than one in five children. Children are at greater risk of poverty than the overall population of the region. Lone-parent families are particularly vulnerable: child poverty rates are five times higher for children in lone-parent families than children in couple families.
