Question – Why use capstring instead of backside injection?
Backside not possible when well has packer
Get’s chemical to point of lowest velocity
Comment – Needs to pull capstrings once a year since they fall apart
Production (corrosion) usually cause of issues
Current Alloy 2205 not resistant to Chloride SCC
Need to use Inconel 625 or 825

Comment - Heard of using foamers with plunger
Concerns of causing wear on plunger

Question regarding methods of foaming – soap-sticks, continuous injection, batch
Usually continuous down backside
Soap-sticks are a good way to evaluate chemistry before applying liquid foamer

Question – Why has green chemicals fallen by wayside?
No standard
Inherent cost higher and not required for US land
Shrink list of products
Even products Gold for CEFAS without substitution warnings are not necessarily green

Question regarding investigating foamers
Samples need to be chemical free, glass containers
Testing need to represent oil/water ratio in well
Software can predict whether chemicals can be effective
Trial and optimize

Comment – Seen capillaries plug
Capillary qualification testing needed before using chemical
Need 70 um inlet filter to prevent “junk” from getting in capillary
Check valve can fail resulting in plug at bottom of capillary, remedy is cutting off bottom few feed and installing new check valve

Has successful experience using chemicals with gas lift
Need to ensure chemicals will not cause junking if gas lift stream is dry
