Review of Lessons Today we are on our last lesson of the Growing Up Fit Together program for this year. We will do a quick review of the lessons we learned and then we will learn important rules for the summer.

LESSON 1: What does Growing Up Fit Together Mean?
Growing Up means to get older and bigger. Fit means to be healthy and in shape. Together means working with others.

Remember This Activity?
Ball up as small as you can on the side of your desk. Now lift just your upper body up Now stand on your knees Now stand completely up. This is kind of how our bodies change as we grow. Can you remember when you were little?

Lesson 2: MyPlate What do each of the colored sections stand for?
Why are some of the colored sections bigger than others? Now let’s review each of the colors and what they mean.

Lesson 3: Bones and Muscles
Do you remember talking about our bones and muscles in Lesson 3? Bones help hold our bodies up straight and muscles help us to move our bodies. Do you remember how many muscles we have in our body? Over 600 Muscles!!!!

Lesson 4: Our Heart Our heart is the most important muscles of all in our body. Without it we would not be alive. Our heart pumps oxygen throughout our bodies. Remember our heart healthy rules?

Heart Healthy Rules Eat a variety of healthy foods.
Be active and move!! Exercise for at least 60 minutes a day. Breathe smoke free air and don’t smoke.

Lesson 5: Our Teeth SMILE CHEW TALK
Do you remember why our teeth are so important to us? They are important to us because they help us to: SMILE CHEW TALK

Our Teeth We have two sets of teeth.
One set is called our baby teeth. We are born with these teeth but they are hiding under our gums. The other set is called our permanent or “forever” teeth which we have with us for the rest of our lifetime if we take care of them.

Lesson 6: Myths About Snacks
Do you remember when we talked about snacks? We will now take a look at some of the things we learned from Lesson 6.

Lesson 6: Facts about Snacks
Children do need snacks because they are still growing. Healthy snacks can be good for you and don’t have to ruin your appetite. Healthy snacks come from the five major food groups. Snacks should not take the place of your three main meals.

Lesson 7: Summer Fun What are some ways you can stay active during the summer? What are your plans for the summer? Be sure to read your newsletter for this lesson with your parents. They have lots of fun ideas to try.

Try This!!! If it makes you healthy ….jump 5 times. If it makes you unhealthy… squat for 5 seconds.
