Objectives:- The Building Construction Technology Program provides a tremendous opportunity for students to investigate their interests in Architecture. S.No.CONTENTS 1. Mud: Stabilization and use for walling and terracing Type of Bricks. 2. Bricks: Constituents and properties of brick, manufacturing of various types of bricks. 3. Types of rocks, Stones – Building stones, types, properties of good stone, natural bed, stone dressings of various types, aggregates for concrete work. Brick Bonds – English (a). Flemish (Single and Double) (b). Rat Trap 4. Wall Junctions (English & Flemish bonds) L Junction, Tee, Cross, Oblique(Laying of brick bonds/ junctions on sites) Construction of brick jallis. 5. 6. Dressing, laying and bonding in Stone Masonry (a). Random Rubble, (b). Coursed Rubble(c). Ashlar Credit 5 Introduction to materials and construction through lectures and studio exercises. Site visits to gain knowledge about construction details. Introduction to some basic construction methods and elements. Methodology:-

General guidelines for the teacher: To introduce the students to primary building materials and their applications in building construction. To cultivate personal observation and self learning in the students, site visits should be conducted so as to cover the given syllabus. Students will observe measure, sketch and annotate what they see at site and submit a site visit report to the teachers concerned for evaluation. This award shall form part and parcel of the sessional work for internal assessment. The paper will be set by the external expert The answer sheets will be marked on the basis of external viva-voce The external experts for both the above activities will be two separate individuals.

Types of steel & aluminium doors in building construction. Timber Windows Types of Windows in timber, Design and Construction details of Casement, Bay, Clearstory, Corner window etc. Types of steel & aluminium windows in building construction.
