Why Bridge Courses? The Placement Agreement and Transition Courses will:
Allows more students to obtain “college-ready” math/English skills before they enter college enabling them to avoid remediation and a higher likelihood they will obtain a degree. Over 50% of students who enter college currently test into remedial courses and only 25% of those students earn a degree within 8 years. Improve curricular alignment between K-12 and entry-level college courses in math and English classes Develop and sustain local college/school district partnerships Give students a different option and experience engaging in the math and ELA content Bill Offer high school students the opportunity to use their SBAC 11th grade scores to place into college-level courses without remediation or additional placement testing Apply to placement considerations at public 2- and 4-year institutions in WA for any students enrolling directly after high school graduation with SBAC 11th grade scores Will be in effect for the graduating classes of , then reviewed and adjusted if necessary based on student performance data

Living the Course The Bridges class has changed the way I teach. After teaching 31 years I had come to be stuck in a rut of just doing direct instruction. This class has made me a better teacher. The questioning strategies applied to each lesson inspire students to be in charge of their own learning and engagement in class. They are constantly challenging one another in their table groups to be better at what they do. They leave class more positive and upbeat saying they really like Math now. - Randy Mickelson, Mead HS Katy
