2. National Party Organization
Each party has a national committee of representatives from every state
Committee’s job: raise funds for Presidential election & organize the party’s national convention

3. Organization (cont.) What goes on at the national convention?
Delegates write the party’s platform and nominate a Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidate
Delegates chosen at caucuses-state and local party meetings
Today, primary elections usually choose the nomination before the convention
Also, have committees for House & Senate nominations

4. State & Local Organization
Cities or Counties are divided into election districts or precincts that contain a specific number of voters
A group of adjoining precincts is a ward
County chairperson is usually in charge of the county committee
