Objective: Research & Overview A “CS6020 Related “ Topic
STEP 1: Student decides by October 14th (5pm) which topic or problem he or she will like to research. The student simply the topic to the Professor for feedback and approval by October 14th or before. If the topic isn’t approved, the student must revise or submit a new topic until the topic is approved. The student controls how fast this step is completed. I will want all topics to be unique – I will use a FCFS approval approach.
STEP 2: Student does research and literature review related to the topic. The number of sources (articles, papers, etc.) used must be 10 or more. The sources must not be any older than 8 years. Student CAN NOT used Wikipedia.
STEP 3: Student write a paper using the IEEE format (http :// The body of the paper must be at least 7 pages or no larger than 10 pages (including figures). The bibliography has no page limit. The paper should be D2L-uploaded by November 28th (6pm). The paper will be docked 1% for every hour the paper is late. I will not review your paper prior to the due date.
STEP 4: Create 6-minute power point presentation of your paper. The presentation should be D2L-uploaded by November 28th (6pm) as well. The presentation will be docked 1% for every hour the presentation is late. I will not review your presentation prior to the due date. I will post your presentation on the website for access. No changes after the due date.
Presentations will occur on 11/29 and 12/1. There will be approximately 8 to 9 students presenting per day and you can show up on the day you present – you don’t have to show up the other presentation days. In being fair, the day you present was randomly chosen.
You will be docked 1 point per minute for every minute you go over or below the 6-minute time limit
GRADING RUBRIC: (1) Paper-35%, (2) Presentation-65% [(i) lecture clarity, flow and thoroughness (50%) and (ii) slide quality (15%)]
