The United States has attracted vast numbers of immigrants from around the world.

Late 1700s/Early 1800s: Most immigrants came from Great Britain, Ireland, western and Central Africa and the Caribbean Late 1800s to the 1920s: Southern, central and eastern Europe, as well as China, Japan, Mexico and Canada
