Reopening as a CCS Fine Arts Magnet and A+ School of the Arts! ROES met our growth goals for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Recognition as a Model School

4 Our current goals School Improvement Goals:
Digital Learning Environments Arts Integration PBIS Continued Implementation School Improvement Team meetings are held monthly. We welcome your attendance and agenda item suggestions. Discuss efforts to improve core instruction through digital learning and arts integration; positive behavior-more time in classroom engaged in learning rather that in office or OSS SIT dates posted on website; also, contact admin if they would like to be a permanent member of the team

5 Title 1 program All ROES students benefit from our Title 1 program.
ROES is a Title 1 school. All ROES students benefit from our Title 1 program. After school tutoring program sponsored by the Academic Learning Center. All ROES students receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. Our school receives additional funding from the federal government (through the NC Department of Instruction) specifically for the purpose of increasing our students’ academic achievement. (This year we received X amount) All students at ROES receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. (Through CEP program)

6 Title 1 Funds Royal Oaks received $200,000 this year to support instruction. Title 1 Plan and Support: Two Lead Interventionists to help students improve reading/math/behavior One additional classroom teacher to help eliminate combination classes Instructional Materials for interventions Parent Involvement Funding to support academics Additional Art Performances and Residencies Describe each bullet and how it helps to improve students’ academics Parents have an opportunity to help decide how parent involvement funds are used and what type of parent involvement activities they want or need to help their children (leave your feedback on the exit slip, give input at SIT meetings-Let us know what you need (call, )

7 Parent engagement requirements
Annual Title 1 Meeting CCS Title 1 Parent Engagement Policy reviewed annually ROES Title 1 Parent Engagement Policy reviewed annually Title 1 Parent Engagement Plan is available electronically (on website) and on paper. School-Parent Compact reviewed annually and is available electronically (on website) and on paper. Tonight is our annual Title 1 meeting ROES has two parent representatives on the District’s Parent Advisory Council that participate in this annual review (they are X and X) ROES reviewed the Parent Engagement Policy and Plan at our August SIT meeting Parent Engagement Plan and Compact is in the ROES handbook (have copies available on the table for parents if they would like an additional copy)

8 Benefits of parent involvement
When parents/guardians are involved: Students earn better grades. Students attend school regularly. Students show improved behavior. Students perform better outside of school. Improves the school climate and community We encourage parental involvement.

Attend Curriculum Events Participate in First Quarter Conferences Webpages, Facebook School and Classroom Newsletters Volunteer, Participate on school committees, PTO Read with your child nightly Talk with your child about what they are learning

10 communication Two-way communication is essential for an effective partnership between the school and home. Please keep your contact information updated. Communicate regularly with teachers (notes, , phone calls, signing progress reports and report cards). If you have a question or concern, contact the teacher. Feel free to contact Mrs. Marsh or Mrs. Lucas. We make every effort to be available if you come in with a question or concern; however, if we are unable to conference with you at the time of your visit, we are happy to schedule a conference time.

11 Requesting information and Notifications
Parents have the right to: Know and request teacher qualifications Voice concerns and make suggestions Participate in the decision-making process Provide input and feedback on the school improvement plan Parents have a right to know and request teacher qualifications. All ROES teachers are highly-qualified. If your child is taught for more than 4 consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified, you will be notified. We value your feedback and opinions

13 Informing instruction
Teachers use a variety of assessments to inform their instruction and respond to student needs including: Informal Observations Adaptive Technology (Dreambox, iReady) Pre/Post Tests Benchmark Assessments (Mastery Connect, Reading 3D) Information regarding your child’s progress will occur: Quarterly Progress Reports, Report Cards First Quarter Conferences; Additionally as needed/requested

14 School Attendance Regular school attendance is key to success.
Excessive absences have a major affect on student achievement. Retention, Truancy Court Students must be in class by 8:15 or they are considered tardy. We want your child to be at school every day for every minute so we can teach them.
