Especially: ‘The Learn by Doing’ philosophy

Student Affairs playing a critical role… Enhanced partnerships with academic affairs Expanded role for Student Academic Services to include championing first-generation four-year programming Retention Specialist positions (cultural groups, veterans, etc) Growth of Career Services The Strong Mission, values and pillars of Student Affairs helps showcase the value we bring to Cal Poly Student Success is a strategic priority for Cal Poly and therefore the needs of Student Affairs are critical to the university. Student Affairs Residential Campus “Housing South” in design Evening Educational Programs – Residence Halls Student Leadership Development First of hopefully three projects to get to all first and second year students on campus Connections with faculty, dining, safety, to be truly residential All of the programs, services and experiences delivered through Cal Poly’s Student Affairs Have stimulated an emotional connection with: Students Parents/Family Community Faculty Staff Organizations Corporations Foundations

Student Affairs Improved Transitions Refocusing SOAR Exploring B=bringing back Block Schedules to SOAR WOW to expand into a First-Year Experience beyond the first week SAS to champion out-of-class First-Year Experience All of the programs, services and experiences delivered through Cal Poly’s Student Affairs Have stimulated an emotional connection with: Students Parents/Family Community Faculty Staff Organizations Corporations Foundations

Student Affairs Wellbeing Counseling & Health Center open two nights a week (Mon & Wed) Moving towards expanded hours on nights and weekends center wide Begin to shift towards all aspects of wellbeing Future initiatives to include cultural centers and leadership development center Health Center Educational Programs
