What is recovery? According to Fulton County, recovery is to be offered when a student has attempted all assignments and is still in danger of failing a course.

What is remediation? Remedial education has been defined by GA DOE as an instructional program designed for students in grades 6-12 who have identified deficiencies in reading, writing, and math. This program provides individualized basic skills instruction as mandated by Georgia Law in the areas of reading, mathematics, and writing.

RED Remediation and Enrichment Days WHO: All Teachers WHAT: Remediation and Enrichment WHY: To improve all academic skills as well as low scores while simultaneously allowing teachers to remediate student learning deficits in a shorter span of time and to extend the learning experiences for those meeting or exceeding the standards. WHEN: Every 3 Weeks: Four Times A Semester

RED Remediation and Enrichment Data WHERE: In your assigned classroom during all class periods. * Teachers should adhere to FCS’s Make -Up Policy for extended absences. How: Improving student performance on DBQ’s, Constructed Responses, Free Response, Standards Mastery and /or conducting Student Conferences. Suggested platforms are Edgenuity, IXL, ICIVICS, USATestPrep, Discovery Ed, etc. NO TRADITIONAL WORKSHEETS * The use of Standards Mastery Trackers are highly recommended during student conferences to promote student accountability for their learning.

MINI- PARENT CONFERENCES WHEN: 3 days after distribution of progress reports WHERE: In your assigned classroom WHY: 1. To inform parents of student performance on assignments completed during the grading period. 2. RAM UP Recovery and Make Up Days WHO: All Teachers WHAT: Recovery and Make Up WHY: RAM UP days are designed to replace missed and low classwork/homework grades during the previous grading period. WHEN: To be held after school only; approximately every 6 weeks (after progress reports have been issued.)

RAM UP Recovery and Make Up Days WHERE: In your assigned classroom HOW: Teachers will offer recovery to those students who are eligible for recovery. In order to be eligible for recovery, a student must have attempted 60% of the assignments issued for the grading period. Note: It is also suggested that 70% be the threshold for mastery. * Teachers that use an ongoing recovery process are encouraged to continue their efforts, however the weekly dates provided must be included.
