Advantages
Disadvantages
Gives you the gender of a word.
Gives you the type of word it is.(noun, verb, adjective…).
Gives you an idea on how to pronouce the word.
Put the word into sentences to show you how to use them accurately.
Gives you other expression/ idioms that you may want to include in a piece of writing.
You need to buy one.
It requires an effort.(looking through it). You must be trained and shown how to use it.
One dictionary per language.
Not easy to carry.
You need to be taught how to use them.

4. Google translate Disadvantages Advantages
It will never tell you if a word is masculine or feminine.
It will not make you think about the language.
It does not automatically give you an example on how to use the word in a sentence.
It will not translate accurately an entire sentences:
e.g: “I am 15 years old”
J’ai 15 ans≠ Je suis 15 ans
It is Free .
You can access it easily (computer/phone/ at home/ on the go).
Can be self taught.
There is one search engine for several languages.
It gives a quick and accurate translation for single words.
It gives you sometimes an idea on how to pronounce the word.

5. Conclusions Both are very useful tools to help us when we are stuck.
We need to be careful when using Google translator and only try to use for single words.
We need to learn how to use a bilingual dictionary as it will give us more important information ( gender, type of word, sentences already made) and we will be able to use it during GCSEs exams.
We need to be skillful as machines will not replace human brains.
When we look at words for ourselves, we MEMORISE them better
