3 What is an Immobilizer The immobilizer is a System which prevents unauthorized Starting of automobile engine unless the correct key is present.

4 Types of Immobilizer in Mahindra vehicles
RKE Based - Starter motor cannot be cranked STARTER IMMOBILIZER - Scorpio Slx RKE Based - Starter motor cannot be cranked and fuel injection is also Deactivated STARTER & ENGINE IMMOBILIZER - Scorpio Vlx ONLY ENGINE IMMOBILIZER - Logan -Xylo -Genio TBI BASED - fuel injection Deactivated & starter motor also cannot be cranked in some vehicles ENGINE & STARTER IMMOBILIZER -Scorpio Refresh Scorpio Ex XUV500

7 RKE Based Starter & Engine Immobilizer
Functionality : CDL authenticates the right RF Key & Communicates the Lock/Unlock Status to the Engine ECU. Engine ECU will Mobilize / Immobilize the vehicle depends on the communication from CDL unit. Block the vehicle for theft attempt. When a vehicle is locked with Remote and unlocked Manually the CDL unit will Trigger the Siren ,deactivate Starter & Fuel Injection. = + +

9 TBI Based Engine Immobilizer
TBI – Transponder Based Immobilizer system. System deactivates the Fuel Injection if the Key is not authenticated. Keys are authenticated by verifying the RF rolling Codes sent by key. To make the system more effective , challenge – response authentication are incorporated in encrypted form. challenge-response authentication - one party presents a question ("challenge") and another party must provide a valid answer ("response") to be authenticated. Encryption – It is the process of transforming readable information in to unreadable one.

10 How it works If the ID code transmitted from the key (transponder) does not match the pre-registered code in the Immobilizer Control Unit (ICU), injection are not performed by the engine ECU. ICU key ECU or

13 What is a Transponder A transponder is incorporated in the head section of the key. XUV500 Battery less chip. Moulded into the key fob. Xylo Communicates with ICU through RF. Each Transponder is configured with Mahindra specific codes during the manufacturing. Only the Mahindra Specific Transponder can be used with Immobilizer.

14 How it works It receives energy from the antenna and respond by transmitting RF signal to the antenna. Transmitter + Responder = Transponder ASIC CONDENSER COIL The transponder accumulates energy in the condenser. Once the energy supply from the coil has stopped, using the stored energy in the condenser, the transponder transmits the ID CODE (stored within the ASIC).

XUV500 It is located directly in front of the steering handle lock. How it works supplies energy to the transponder receives signal from the transponder sends transponder signal to the ICM

16 What is an ICU How it works ICU is IMMOBILIZER CONTROL UNIT.
XUV500-It is inside the MBFM . It is fitted below the steering wheel Xylo, Scorpio, Genio fitted on the ignition lock barrel XUV500 MBFM XUV500 How it works Supplies power to the antenna. Receives and analyses signal from the key via antenna. conveys the key status information to engine ECU over CAN.

What is an ECU ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT. How it works in immobilizer In the Ignition ON position, the ECU sends a challenge to ICU Receives and analyses Response signal for the challenge from the ICU. Receives and analyses key Status From ICU. Activates the Fuel Injection if the Signal from ICU & key status is authentic.

Starter Relay operation will allowed only when Vehicle in Antitheft Disarm state AND Immobilizer Authentication cleared in the current ignition cycle Starter Relay will be engaged If Start Stop Disabled or Start Stop inactive KL15 Active AND KL 50 Active AND Engine Speed Below 50 RPM If Start Stop Enabled or Start Stop active (key Crank) If Start Stop Enabled or Start Stop active (System Crank) Start Signal From EMS AND Starter Relay will be disengaged once Engine speed reach 550 RPM OR Engaged time is more than 10 sec

20 System Failure XUV500 Failure of system is reported in the form of System Lamp. In XUV500, Tell tale will blink when the vehicle in locked condition/ignition off Tell tale will go off once the ignition turned ON and immobilizer authentication is passed. By Connecting respective vehicle EMS Smart tester & Detecting P183 series (DTC) confirms Immobilizer System problem in Xylo, Scorpio & Genio. Open respective vehicle Immobilizer Diagnostic Tester & Manual for Further Diagnosis. Failure of ECU & ICU Components Should be reported through CrFR – Common Rail Failure Report SCR – Service Complaint Report Replacement of ECU, Keys & ICU/MBFM requires approval from Tekline.

Lock Locking of all the doors will happen on pressing lock button If all doors are closed – Flasher will flash once If any door is open – Both Flasher and Siren will chirp 5 times Un-Lock Un-Locking of all the doors will happen on pressing unlock button If no Theft attempted during lock period – Flasher will flash twice If theft attempted during lock period - Flasher and Siren will chirp 4 times Tail gate release Enable the Tail gate release button for 45sec on pressing tail gate release button Flasher will flash 4 times. Mute/Un-Mute Pressing the Lock button continuously for more than 3sec will change the status of Mute/Un-Mute Flasher will flash once to indicate the change in status Panic/Search Pressing Un-Lock button continuously for more than 3sec will enter to Panic/Search Pressing un-lock button again will come out of panic/Search

28 Anti Theft- Function Alarm
Vehicle will enter into alarm when any door status/Ignition status changed when vehicle is locked through RKE Alarm time – Pre-alarm for 10sec and continuous alarm for 35sec After alarm period, there will not be any alarm again till any further change in door/Ignition status again On Press tail gate release and on opening tail gate release within 45sec – Alarm will not triggered. On opening other doors other than tail gate will trigger alarm Locking the vehicle with Mechanical key will not trigger alarm on theft attempting Unlocking the door with the mechanical key (if already locked with RKE), will trigger the alarm and it will stop if either RKE unlock is pressed OR on successful authentication of key with ignition ON
