What It Takes To Be A Leader
▪ Work on developing the traits and characteristics that those who hold leadership positions in the church are to have. 11/19/2018
23
What It Takes To Be A Leader
▪ 1 Tim 3:1-13 “This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; 11/19/2018

lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus”. 11/19/2018
25
What One Does As A Leader
▪ Stay pure so that God can use you as His instrument ▪ 2 Tim 2:22 “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart”. ▪ Strive to be an example to believers in word, conduct, love, spirit, faith and purity 11/19/2018
26
What One Does As A Leader
▪ Strive to be an example knowing that you are younger than many in the church. ▪ 1 Tim 4:12-13 “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine”. 11/19/2018
27
What One Does As A Leader
▪ Acts 20:28-30 “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them”. 11/19/2018
28
What One Does As A Leader
▪ Future leaders in particular should be taking advantage of blogs, social media, and every available platform for communicating the message. We should be exercising stewardship in new opportunities to learn, teach, and study online, recognizing that no generation before us had such rich opportunities. ▪ In Jesus day and age the field was white unto harvest and now the Internet is available for the sowing of the Word of God. The harvest can be plentiful if we just sow. 11/19/2018
29
What One Does As A Leader
▪ We have only touched the tip of the iceberg and use of the internet for spreading the gospel. ▪ Realize that you can always learn from those younger than you. 11/19/2018
