“Judge not, that you be not judged!”
The Muslims don’t know the True God The Jews have been disowned by God “Judge not, that you be not judged!” Homosexuality is a sin
2
Please read with me from Matthew 7:1-5
3
They are on their way to hell: 1 John 2:22,23
What do we say to someone who believes they are going to heaven, but do not believe Jesus is the Son of God? Do we say: “It matters not what god you believe in.”? NO! They are on their way to hell: 1 John 2:22,23
4
“a more welcoming Church…not cold, dogmatic bureaucrats.”
5
Read the whole chapter:
“Beware of false prophets…” vs. 15 How can we know the false prophets unless we judge them by the Word of God? “know them by their fruits…” vs. 16 Did the Lord mean we could not judge the tree (person), by the fruit (their life and doctrine)?
6
Teaching in the Temple- John 7
John 7:24 "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.“ We Commanded to “judge with righteous judgment” Judgment on any other basis a violation of Matthew 7:1
7
Define “Judge” “properly, to distinguish, i.e. decide (mentally or judicially); by implication, to try, condemn, punish:” “To separate, distinguish, discriminate between good & evil, select, choose out the good.” “to judge, to assume censorial power over, to call to account, Mt. 7:1”
8
What Jesus Prohibits is:
Censorious, sharp, unjust criticism Especially when the one judging is a hypocrite (v.5) Essential that a child of God is able to discern between good & evil – Hebrews 5:14 Discern- “distinguishing, judging…”
9
1 Corinthians 5:1-13 Chastised for Not Judging – vs.6
Paul “judged” – vs.3 They were to “judge” – vs.12 Same Greek word as in Matthew 7:1 Did Not Violate “judge not, that you be not judged” All judgment according to the Word
10
Ephesians 5:11 Expose- “to censure, condemn, find fault, rebuke, & to refute them.” Must exercise judgment as to what are “works of darkness.” Otherwise, how could we ever comply with this divine directive?
11
2 Thessalonians 3:6 “Command…withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly…” Compels us to judge who is “walking disorderly” [“out of the ranks, (often so of soldiers); irregular, inordinate, deviating from the prescribed order or rule:” Thayer’s Greek Lexicon] Can’t do this successfully without “judging.”
12
Romans 16:17 “Note those who cause divisions & offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, & avoid them.” Requires us to determine those who are guilty of such things & to take note of them! That calls for Judging!
13
Can we tell someone they are out of harmony with God’s Will?
The Scriptures say YES! What are the implications of being out of harmony with God’s Will? They are Guilty of Sin, and Sin persisted in, results in eternal condemnation. What have we told them? IF they continue in the path they are taking, it will result in eternity with the Devil & all his angels!
