We know that through God’s word we gain faith. Rom. 10:17
We also know that without faith we cannot please God. Heb. 11:6
But, what exactly did the apostle Paul mean when he said he “kept the faith”?
2 Timothy 4:7

3. He PREACHED “the faith”

4. Preaching THE FAITH
That Jesus came in the flesh. John 1:14; 2 John 7-11
That Jesus died and rose again. Matthew 28:5-6; 1 Corinthians 15:12-19
Ultimately, that Jesus is the Christ (the Savior of the world). John 14:6; Romans 5:1-2

5. He LIVED “the faith”

6. He Lived THE FAITH He followed Christ. Not just in preaching…
He suffered like His Savior: Acts 9:16; 2 Corinthians 11:23ff
He lived to uphold the greatest commands: Matthew 22:37-40; 1 Corinthians 10:31ff

7. By PREACHING & LIVING Jesus Christ Paul KEPT THE FAITH

8. God’s Desire is for all to KEEP THE FAITH

9. Keeping THE FAITH
That we believe in the name of Jesus, the way the apostle(s) did. Phil. 2:10-11
That we live “faithfully” as Paul: conforming to the image of Christ. Romans 8:29; Philippians 2:5ff
That we contend for the faith. Jude 3; 1 Timothy 6:12

10. The Future for those who
KEEP THE FAITH

11. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
