Continued a tradition of the late 19th century of promoting Northern tourism to the South
Aiken and Camden for temperate outdoor pastimes including horse racing and hunting Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington State Park are established

The Cold War: Military spending spawned industries that provided jobs.
Savannah River Nuclear Plant was built to provide weapons (Nuclear Arsenal) Cold War spending and the War on Terrorism= Military Bases continue to play an important role in the state’s economy

After the fall of the Soviet Union, the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base and the Charleston Naval Shipyard closed Fort Jackson, Parris Island, Shaw Air Force Base and the Port of Charleston Remained as: Training facilities and staging areas in South Carolina because of Conflicts in Middle East:
