Effects on the Environment
Almost all land in Western Europe is impacted by industrialization From the most serious problem was deforestation During the Industrial Revolution European countries move away from timber Replace with Fossil Fuels (coal) Creates new long term environmental problems Acid Rain, Global Warming, etc.

20,000 residents in 1760 Over 400,000 by 1850 Rapid growth causes many problems: No urban planning Factories and worker housing are thrown together Air pollution No sewer or public water systems Leads to widespread disease outbreaks

Birth rates fall Lots of kids are now a problem Farms required lots of help, now kids are just another mouth to feed Death Rates fall As the IR goes on people tend to live longer By 1900 even working class people live above the subsistence level Diets improve Medical advancements Housing improves
