Lesson 5-2 Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
Obj: The student will be able to identify parallel and perpendicular lines and the angles formed by a transversal HWK: p all Vocab: 1) parallel lines – lines in a plane that never meet 2) perpendicular lines – lines that meet to form right angles 3) transversal – a line that intersects two or more lines that lie in the same plane
2
Properties of Transversals to Parallel Lines
If two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal Corresponding angles are congruent Alternate interior angles are congruent Alternate exterior angles are congruent If the transversal is perpendicular to the parallel lines, all of the angles formed are congruent 90° angles
