However, Unlike the Renaissance…
Neoclassical theorists saw man as an imperfect being, inherently sinful, whose potential was limited. Emphasis was on order and reason, restraint, common sense, and religious, political, economic and philosophical conservatism. They believed man was the most appropriate subject of art, and saw art itself as useful and intellectual not emotional.
