4. mCLASS Literacy Progress Report
teachers can generate Home Connect Letters for each student after the benchmarking period. These letters provide parents with information about their student’s progress as well as some recommendations for things they can do to work with their child at home. The letters are available in both English and Spanish.

6. Phoneme Segmentation Fluency -PSF
Measures: the ability to break spoken words into individual sounds
“Tell me the sounds in frog.” f-r-o-g
should be mastered (score of 40) by end of kindergarten
Very helpful with writing

Want students to move beyond looking at individual letter sounds
Eyes should be taking in word parts, whole words, sight words and phrases
Rate of reading indicates how automatic students are at decoding
Want automaticity in decoding so can pay attention to meaning

11. Text Reading Comprehension (TRC)
Measures:
sight words
phonics and word attack skills
accuracy and rate
comprehension oral and written
read and answer questions independently (F & higher)
Measures the ability to apply skills and strategies
Equivalent to the EOG in upper grades
Students will be invited to summer school based on their TRC level
