Shade houses Protect plants from too much sunlight e.g. ferns High temperatures e.g. seedlings in the summertime

Plastic Houses Increase the air and soil temperature Plants can be grown out of season when the outside temperature is too cold

Row Covers These can be used to protect plants from cold temperatures when they are first planted Good row covers can provide protection up to 8ºC of frost
