Research Questions What do women in northern Uganda, Kenya, and eastern DRC identify as their priorities in relation to justice? What efforts have been made to provide justice and rights protection for women who have experienced violence in northern Uganda, Kenya, and eastern DRC? How have women responded to these justice interventions, and what impact have these had on addressing women’s rights and justice priorities? How can transitional justice interventions be adapted to better address women’s rights and justice priorities, build resilience, and prevent violence against women?

Highlights of Key Findings
Women define justice from a very comprehensive perspective. It is more then just going through a formal justice system Transitional justice for women have not been given adequate support and focus. Protection for women seeking justice has not been fully guaranteed. Social factors such as stigmatization, family relations and community perspectives limit women to seek justice. There is deficit in the formal justice systems and unless these address they may not really work for women Violence against women and sexual violence & assault is another war. Violence against Children is a women's rights issue Forced displacement affects recovery and development Political violence against women remains a key issue No country can recover from conflict unless violation of women’s rights in the conflict is addressed and protection of women is guaranteed.

Lessons Deliberate effort to listen to the voices if women to define peace. Formal and informal justice systems have not fully taken into account protection of women's rights International instruments on women , peace and security in place but implementation is a huge challenge Prioritization of support to women in crisis in Africa. It all starts from stable governance , acknowledging women’s rights and women’s leadership and political stability…. Its about holding everybody accountable Women’s full potential and agency in development comes with peaceful coexistence.
