Geographies Because Queens Library operates 63 branches within one county, we mostly use zip codes and census tracts as our census geographies. For libraries with 1 operating branch, it may make sense to use zip codes. For libraries operating multiple branches within one zip code, it makes sense to use census tracts. County and State libraries may use county level geographies, as well as zip codes and/or census tracts. Monday, November 19, 2018Monday, November 19, 2018

Margin of Error The MOE is a measure of the possible variation of the estimate around the true population value What to do with a large MOE Go up one geography until you get an acceptable MOE, or collapse characteristic categories (e.g. collapse age 0-4, 5-9, 10-14, to use Under 18) Accept the large MOE because it’s the best we have More reading on MOE: Monday, November 19, 2018Monday, November 19, 2018
