3 Mission Statement “The Inglemoor High School Viking Gridiron Booster Club is the official Booster Club for the IHS Football program. We are a group of parents which exists to positively support, promote, and enhance the experience of Viking Football, its student-athletes, coaches, and families. “The Gridiron Booster Club works to achieve this through the inclusion of all football families as Booster members; strengthening participation with the IHS student body, administration and faculty; working hand-in-hand with the junior football league to help build the future identity of IHS Football; and establishing financial and service partnerships within the local community. We accomplish this through fund-raising, securing sponsorships and donations, and volunteering our time in order to reduce expenses and create community awareness. “Our goal is to foster goodwill, sportsmanship, and fraternal spirit among all members; engage the Viking Community in support of the football program; and build a sense of pride in being a part of Viking Football.” Use this slide to visualize the mission statement Talking points 1. 4 Viking Gridiron Boosters
Boosters comprised of parent volunteers (you) 501(c)3 not-for-profit business IRS regulations Finances, meeting minutes, etc Board and officers Decisions are voted upon Governed by WIAA, NSD, and IHS regulations Member WA State Booster Association

5 Viking Gridiron Boosters
Boosters function to support the Coach and program Monthly Board meeting with Coach Parents encouraged to attend Boosters communicate with the Coach, AD Boosters communicate with parents, not athletes Boosters act as proxy to simplify or provide benefit to program (i.e. reduce cost with quantity purchase) Priority: best interest of the athletes and program Boosters meets monthly Agenda, meeting minutes, financials, summary from each Booster lead, new business. Meeting date/time announced on website Boosters will handle certain tasks on behalf of the families, the overall program or the Coach, that might otherwise be more complicated and expensive to handle on an individual basis.  For example: ordering of the practice jerseys and game socks. 

6 Boosters: What we do & don’t do
Boosters execute program essentials Boosters do not handle or manage Communication with Parents Fundraising for Boosters Team dinners, banquets, snacks Practice gear for player purchase Organize Team camps Program Enhancements such as Spirit Wear & Viking Swag Manage requests from Coach: i.e. equipment, uniforms, gear Collect fees for related activities Scholarships & Financial Aid Communication with athletes Practice times Game times & locations Transportation Attendance Academic eligibility Playing time Team rosters Player position Team-issued gear & uniform

7 Associated Student Body (ASB)
Run by IHS Athletic Dept - all sports managed by ASB ASB & Sports Pay to Play Fees pay for coaches, equipment, uniforms, maintenance Fees paid in August: IHS ASB Office; OR Online through IHS Website >Athletics>Register for Sports> NSD’s TouchBase Fundraisers where athletes handle the selling goes to the ASB – Football Account for Coach’s use for Viking Football

8 Boosters vs. ASB Boosters and ASB work cooperatively to support the program needs Funds are separated between Boosters and ASB depending on the source and the purpose intended Boosters cannot order and pay directly for any equipment or uniforms that will become the property of the school

9 Boosters vs ASB Examples
May grant money to the ASB to assist with major program purchases  Directly purchase items that will become the property of an individual (e.g., practice jerseys) Money raised by Boosters is done through parent (adult) efforts and hosted events Booster Fees are paid in April (covers all team expenses and events that are hosted by the Boosters thru the entire season) Purchase required player gear (helmet, pads), team equipment and uniforms that are issued to the players and are the property of the school Money is raised by Student-Athletes, such as Car Washes or Gold Cards ASB / NSD Fees are paid in Aug (per the NSD, covers district-hosted expenses, such as buses to games, etc. Managed by IHS Athletics.)

How Else Can You Help? Employer Matching Funds: Microsoft, Boeing, PSE, etc Funds are matched for Cash Donations & Hours!! Microsoft pays cash directly to our program for your volunteer hours DONATE on-line. We are non-profit and your contribution is tax-deductible Shop on Amazon? Switch to AmazonSmile and choose Viking Gridiron Club as your charity of choice. Available for Prime and regular purchases. Ask your employer or have your business be a Viking Community Partner. There are multiple levels to fit all budgets. Most importantly: VOLUNTEER!! It all helps, whether a little or a lot. Give an hour to Spirit Wear, bring a case of water, help serve a Team Dinner – do what you can do. If we all team up, we will build a strong foundation for the program and our players. “Nobody rides this ship – we all ROW!”
