Mr Daly Monday, 19 November 2018Monday, 19 November 2018 Natural Hazards - Flooding Australia is the driest inhabited continent on Earth When it does rain, or storm, it’s often too much for the river systems and catchments A flood is caused when water inundates land which should normally be dry There are two types of river systems in Australia; Inland Rivers: Are rivers that flood overlarge areas, for long periods of time, such as weeks possibly months Coastal Rivers: Are small rivers that flood for short periods of time, such as days, possibly weeks.
