Micah’s grandmother had some buttons she was using to sew. Micah saw that she had 5 groups of buttons. Each group had 3 buttons in it. The picture shows Micah’s grandmother’s buttons. 5 groups x 3 in each group = 15 buttons

Stephen has 3 boxes of toy cars. One box has 2 cars, and the other two boxes have 4 cars each. How many toy cars does Stephen have? Why is this problem NOT an example of multiplication? How would you change this problem so that it is a multiplication problem?
