PSALM 139 Kids have a really dangerous combination of curiosity and inability. They’re always looking to explore, but they get themselves into situations. A couple of months ago my 3 year old son wandered away in a split level shopping center from me while I watched our 1.5 yo daughter I started to hear him crying. Calling for me. And to make matters worse, I could hear someone else – a stranger talking to him telling him to take their hand. But I couldn’t get to him. It was horrible…hearing him – knowing how scared he was and me not being able to see or reach him. Want to see a picture of where he was?

Safari Run Kids Park – know him, can see him, with him, formed him, war for him and lead him in way everlasting. I failed him.

Good Dads… Know their kids. Are present. Shape them. Protect them.
Lead them. We are a forgetful people. We live by calendars with reminders, mark s unread, Find my Phone, Google Maps/Waze, Tile on keychains, And far beyond that, we are spritiually forgetful. I know I’m not the only one in the room being tempted. And forget temptation, I know there are men in this room given over to porn, adultery, prostitution, secret homosexuality, materialism, greed, workaholism, alcoholism….and yet we claim Christ. We forget our God. We forget the blessing of walking with God. We believe the WoLF and take the lulls, lies and lusts instead of following our LORD. So today we’re talking about Psalm 103 and THE ANTIDOTE to Forgetting God. We’re going to see this Psalm instruct us to praise God and not forget Him, due to His benefits and His character. This Psalm and the contents therein are power to keep you frorm sin, if you believe.

Psalm 139.1-6 KNOWS US / OMNISCIENT: Knowledge Fatherly Covenant
O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high; I cannot attain it. Knowledge Fatherly Covenant HE KNOWS US. Yada – found 6x’s / Covenant word I repeat back to someone what they’ve told me and they feel loved. Same with God. He knows all. Fully known and fully loved. The good, the bad and the horrific…your thought life. OMNISCIENT: If you knew my thoughts, they wouldn’t let me speak. And if we knew your thoughts, we wouldn’t let you in here. But God knows all and still loves us. As we are. Not our future self. You know

Psalm 139.7-12 WITH US / OMNIPRESENT: Sealed/Indwelt Walk
Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. Sealed/Indwelt Walk Faithless? Faithful. HE IS WITH US Son and monitor OMNIPRESENT Sealed and Indwelt by the Spirit Gal 5.16 Ever present – nothing can separate us from the love of the Father. Penny walks away from me, but I’m always there.

Psalm 139.13-18 FORMS US / OMNIPOTENT (IMMANENT): Chronologically
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you. Chronologically Physically Spiritually HE FORMS US / OMNIPOTENT (IMMANENCE – NEARNESS, PERSONAL, INDIVIDUALLY SUSTAINING, PROVIDENTIAL ) Personal Physically – knows the hairs on your head and every day ordained. Shotclock. Spiritually - Sanctifies through the Spirit – not one and done, but continues as a Father aims to build character. “Shepherd the Person not the Problems” At work in our hearts. Not rule followers…Christ followers.

Psalm 139.19-22 FOR US / OMNIPOTENT (TRANSCENDENT): Sovereign
Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God! O men of blood, depart from me! They speak against you with malicious intent; your enemies take your name in vain. Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you? I hate them with complete hatred; I count them my enemies. Sovereign Wars for us Victorious HE IS FOR US. / OMNIPOTENT – in a Transcendent sense (altogether Holy, Righteous, All Powerful and Sovereign – Dread Sovereign) Wars for us. Protects us. You call upon Him…like a wrestling getting killed in the ring – you tag Him in. “My dad can beat up your dad.” In spiritual warfare, you call upon God. Fred

Psalm LEADS US / ALL 3: All-Knowing, All-Present, All-Powerful Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! Glad Submission Reverential Fear Mutually Desired Leading HE LEADS US. This is our Application. This is our part. Glad Submission like placing yourself under the care of a doctor for healing (my son getting a shot or me…same pain, but knowledge of Doc and meds) Reverential Fear (knowing their is evil and sin within, you ask him to find the grievous way...knowing that disobedience is deadly) Mutually-Desired Leading (God wants to lead you, but you must be willing to follow. You must invite him to lead you...he won’t drag you against your will)

Safari Run Kids Park – I grabbed Penny under my arm and stooped low to go into his trouble, his fear, and helped him enjoy this wild, foreign place…and from then on, he begged me to join him. Men, do not navigate this world, it’s evils and your sin within on your own. Go to Him who knows you, is with you, forms you, is for you and invite him to lead you.
