1 Put your brilliant, fascinating, prominent title here
Add your name(s) and affiliation(s) here. Plus logos for your affiliations and any sources of funding Introduction There is no need for this ICMPC15/ESCOM10 poster guideline, because everyone prepares and presents their poster differently. And that is a good thing! Please create an original poster that is different from everybody else’s. Exception: See the requirements in the next box. Everyone has to follow a few basic rules. So what is this guideline for? For colleagues who are new to the gentle art of conference posters: Welcome! Diagrams and graphs include only directly relevant information (delete the rest!) large font size (no smaller than 7 on DIN-A4) clear, colorful, attractive (like the rest of your beautiful poster) Requirements All poster presenters at ICMPC15/ESCOM10 must: …make sure the poster can be read when reduced to DIN-A4. All text, all axis/legend markings on graphs, all copyright acknowledgments, and all reference list entries must be legible on A4. You will upload the poster in pdf-A4 format to our password- protected system (virtual poster), and print it on A0 to take to your hub (physical poster). ...prepare the poster as if it will appear in the internet. Posters be stored in a password-protected system, but if someone puts a poster in the internet, it will be impossible to delete it. The internet never forgets! So be careful to avoid copyright infringement, plagiarism, or defamation. Caption: The caption should make the graph easy to understand by explaining the axes and symbols. The axes should be clearly marked with both title and unit. The graph itself must be original! Do not copy and paste from any published or unpublished source (on paper or in the internet) without the author’s written permission. Be concise! When revising, try to shorten your text, saying the same thing with fewer words and letters. Delete unnecessary words, then delete some more! Convert blocks of text into points (like this). Leave space between blocks of text (avoid clutter). Jargon & abbrev.?! Your poster should be easy to read. Convert jargon into everyday language. Avoid abbrevations. If the same technical term happens several times, explain the abbreviation at first use, e.g. “Music Information Retrieval (MIR)”. It’s nice to include an original photo (take it yourself) or a picture (draw it yourself) to make your poster more attractive and easier to remember. Check the resolution by zooming out to 400%. The image should be directly relevant for the poster! Unlike this one… In-text references APA allows for two possible formats. Use only these! within a statement like this: Smith (1999) suggested ... in brackets at the end of a statement: (Smith, 1999) Computing tips To move a box like this one around, click on the edge to select it, and then use the mouse or arrow keys. For moving small distances to line things up, press the control key (on a pc) then use the arrow keys. Before uploading your poster to our password-protected system, convert it to pdf by selecting file-export. References (APA format – with correct left indenting!) Albrecht, E. D., & Aberdeen, G. W.
