What have I achieved so far?
Content First Policy Learning Group Meeting on January 17th Content: Contentwise we’ve made some major steps since September whilst setting up the PLG. Just to refresh your memory: the PLG a network of flood infrastructure Asset Managers. With the goal being to reflect upon the FAIR Framework and advocate the project results in a broader perspective, the PLG has both a content and a network purpose. Mid January the PLG of FAIR met each other for the first time via a video conference (as you can see in the pictures). During this meeting, Berry introduced the FAIR Framework to the members. Tomorrow, the PLG will meet again, this time in real life. This meeting will be about the maturity analysis and agreeing on the ‘Improvement Potentials’ of FAIR.

Communication Mid Term event Communication: The past few months we’ve been very busy with organizing the Mid Term event together with the INTERREG project Building with Nature. Whilst doing so, we also tried to keep Rijkswaterstaat updated by posting on the intranet. Moreover, the event has it’s own webpage. This is a great way to further communicate FAIR.

What have I achieved so far?
Dissemination Irish National Flood Forum Mid Term event & FAIR Policy Debate Conversations with various directors within RWS Dissemination: Liesbeth has been to the Irish National Flood Forum on November 25th and gave a presentation about dissemination and stakeholder management in general and more specifically about FAIR and Building with Nature. This was a great platform to disseminate the message of FAIR. Moreover, the Mid Term tomorrow, with almost 200 attendees, amongst which 30 people from the USACE and EA is a great way to spread the word of FAIR. We will organize a Police Debate which will help us to further disseminate FAIR amongst the atteendees. The majority of the attendees are familiar with Asset Management. They are professionals, who can on their turn (re)tell the story to their colleagues. We continuously disseminate FAIR within Rijkswaterstaat by organizing meetings with various directors

What will I undertake until June?
Content Use HWBP as a platform for communication Setting up a back-office + Preparing the PLG members for the meetings + Securing the project results within the own organization. Content: We will further intensify our relationship with HWBP, the Dutch Water and Flood Programme. Erik Kraaij, representative of the Dutch National Water Authorities and director at HWBP, is part of the FAIR PLG. Moreover we are currently setting up a back-office within Rijkswaterstaat. This back-office has a dual purpose. On one hand, it helps us to prepare our PLG members in a decent manner. On the other hand, it helps us to further disseminate the message of FAIR within Rijkswaterstaat.

River systems Coastal zone Renovation of hydraulic structures Levees and flood protection Inner waters Water and Food Soil and water Subsidence and water management Water and Energy North Sea National Water Model Smart Water Management Sustainable management of large water systems What will I undertake until June? Communication Increase the publicity of FAIR Dissemination Deploy the International Networks Link to NKWK Peer Review Communication We will further increase the publicity of FAIR when interesting events take place or milestones are reached. Dissemination In Billund I presented an overview of the various to FAIR interesting international networks. I would, until June, very much like to take the overview one step further and define contact persons to tap into these networks. I would also very much like to exchange information on the content and on possibly interesting events. There’s great potential, within the Netherlands, in linking FAIR to NKWK – the National Research and Innovation Programme on Water and Climate. In the beginning of April, FAIR will be therefore present at the national NKWK conference. And finally, there’s great potential in executing a peer group review with LSBG on risk based management and maintenance. Rijkswaterstaat and LSBG found out that there are quite some similarities between the countries’ approaches. We encourage you to also find comparable collaborations within FAIR.

What are my challenges? Content Communication Dissemination
Shared responsibility FAIR network Communication Interaction between Partners and PLG members Dissemination Enough links to other networks Content: The main challenge for WP6 is to ensure the shared responsability of the FAIR network. To be able to set up a FAIR network we need your help when it comes to the content. On the other hand you all benefit from a well set up FAIR network. Communication: For a serious PLG, the PLG members and FAIR Partners need to interact with each other on a regular basis. This way the PLG member can keep track of the status of the FAIR project and he/she can attend the PLG meetings well prepared. Disseminarion: As mentioned in the previous slide, until June I would like to futher mature the overview of national and international networks. Also for this step, I will at some point need your help, as you have the best overview of what’s happening in your country.

These are examples of how we, within Rijkswaterstaat and the Netherlands, disseminate the message of FAIR. I would like to ask you to take our activities as an example of how you could disseminate FAIR. So, let’s all work together, so that content and network can only strengthen each other.
