1 MIWP7-a: overview and state-of-play 29th MIG-T meeting, Ispra, 19-20 April 2016 Alexander Kotsev

2 MIWP7-a “SOS sub-group”
Members of the sub-group: Member State representatives: 13 Environmental agencies Research Private sector Represented domains: Air quality (AT, IT) Geology & Solis (FR, SE) Marine & Meteo (IT, AT) Collect relevant use cases Comments on existing TG Propose updates of: TG for SOS-based Download Services D 2.9 “Guidelines for the use of Observations & Measurements and Sensor Web Enablement-related standards in INSPIRE” Mandate

3 Results 1/2 Updated Technical Guidance
D2.9 “Guidelines for the use of O&M and SWE standards in INSPIRE” Before: Overview of O&M and SOS , (90 %) INSPIRE-specific content (10 %) Now: Focus on implementers Guidance tailored to INSPIRE Previously existing content as Annexes Simpler and shorter document Alignment with TG for download services Technical Editor: Sylvain Grellet, BRGM FR

4 Results 2/2 Open Source Implementation
Before: Implementation of the SOS interface as documented in previous draft of extension proposal for TG No support of INSPIRE observation types as described in D2.9 Now: Support of additional observation types: PointObservation, PointTimeSeriesObservation, MultiPointObservation, ProfileObservation, TrajectoryObservation) Adjustments based on discussions and parallel developments with BRGM (editor of TG update) Implementer: 52°North (Carsten Hollmann and Simon Jirka)

5 Results 2/2 Open Source Implementation
Observation Type Description/Example Potential Data Sets for Demo PointObservation Latest measurement of an observed property at a location Up-to-date air quality measurements (e.g. data measured at JRC) PointTimeSeriesObservation Time series of measurements of an observed property at a location Hydrogeological time series data (installation ongoing at BRGM) MultiPointObservation Latest measurement of an observed property at the same time on multiple locations Current measurements of meteorological parameters (data set has not yet been identified) ProfileObservation Measurement of an observed property at different depths or heights E.g. water temperature at different depths (data set has not yet been identified) TrajectoryObservation Mobile sensors and their measurement FerryBox data (installation ongoing within the NeXOS project)

6 Present and submit results to MIG-T for endorsement
Next steps … Present and submit results to MIG-T for endorsement Submit work to OGC as best practice Workshops FOSS4G-Europe, Bonn (accepted) Geospatial Sensor Webs Conference, Muenster INSPIRE Conference (planned) Investigate other solutions JSON (for encoding versus xml) timeseriesAPI (IoT-ready OGC standard) Stack of: Guidance + Software + Examples Ready for implementations .... Target different domains
