A FEW Additional Class procedures
Fire drill – we will calmly exit the building via the front double doors. If you are not in the classroom at the time of a fire drill, try to exit with the closest class as possible. If you do go out the front doors, please try to meet up with this class so I can take roll. Lockdown procedures – I will go over these in more detail when I am in the classroom after September 6. Regardless, if anything happens prior to the 6th, Ms. Harrison is brilliant and knows the ADHS procedures. We will access the Athens Drive Public Library soon. If you do not have a public library card we will remedy that. Our librarians, Mr. Mulvey and Ms. Ruthven are both terrific and will assist us in a number of ways this semester

From Experience I grew up in western North Carolina and went to a fairly small school. In relation to Athens’s sized student body, I was one of only about 700 students (less than 1/3 this size). A number of the great opportunities available to you (see the aforementioned clubs, sports, fine arts) were not available to my classmates and myself. I am so excited to see what each one of you makes of your time here at Athens. The great Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho stated, “Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience.” I urge you wholeheartedly to seek out something new at Athens. The faculty, staff, and student body wish for nothing but your success. -Mr. Herring Also…
