situation Carla, is a 27-year-old doctor. She grew up in a conservative small town. Her middle-class parents were very religious, and she has a strong sense of morality because of them. She worked very hard to become a doctor, overcoming academic problems as well as social difficulties. As a result, she had very little time to enjoy herself. Six months ago she met Bobby. An outgoing and happy- go-lucky guy, he has brought love, and adventure into her life. Although Carla’s parents realize that Bobby has a good influence on her, they have various objections. He comes from a poor family, he is five years older that Carla and is separated from his wife. He also has a two-year old child. These differences don’t matter to him. Carla is, however, torn by the conflict between her parents and Bobby.

When choosing someone for a long lasting relationship, should a person look for someone who has a similar background and interests or look for one’s opposite?
