Black and White Set 2

Ideal negatives look like this for black and for whites

Issues - http://www.silverlight.co.uk/tutorials/basicpf/filmprobs.html
My film is completely black. Indicates overexposure. Shot too light.
4
My film is completely clear. Or almost completely clear – shot too dark.
Indicates underexposure. Shot too dark. If there really is nothing there at all apart from edge numbers, you probably didn't expose the film at all , either through incorrect loading where the film hasn't wound on or by developing an unused film by accident. If the film is completely clear including the logo and numbers, then you have fixed the film before developing . The developer was off.
5
Negatives are very thin ( faint ).
Meter in camera off, or underdevelopment. Developer too cold, too short development time, or insufficient agitation.
6
Negatives are very dense ( dark ).
Assuming correct exposure in the first place. Overdevelopment. Developer too hot, too long development time, developer too concentrated or over agitation.
7
Film is cloudy or milky. Insufficient fixing. Too short fixing time, fixer exhausted or fixer too dilute. Return to fixer solution or if necessary re-fix in a fresh solution.
8
Uneven development is caused by insufficient agitation of the film developing solution. Or the developing solution didn’t get to the film. When the agitation level is not high enough, depleted chemicals near the emulsion surface are not replenished in time to complete the development process and can accumulate and slide across the film.
9
Squeezing reels too tightly in the white developing reels can also cause film to overlap and touch. When this occurs, developing solution is prevented from reaching the film emulsion and at the point of contact and the film will not be adequately processed. In most instances, the affected area will remain totally unprocessed and opaque, but can also become clear if the film separates later in the development process. To avoid the problem, check to ensure film is winding correctly on the reel, and listen for crackling or other unusual sounds when loading film reels in the darkroom. If the winding doesn't proceed smoothly, unwind the film and start over again.
