Minimum Wage by State There is a federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour – nowhere in the country is it lower Massachusetts has the highest of any state Most states in the south have the lowest

Exceptions to Minimum Wage
Those are aren’t employed legally are often taken advantage of The American federal government requires a wage of at least $2.13 per hour be paid to employees that receive at least $30 per month in tips. If wages and tips do not equal the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour during any week, the employer is required to increase cash wages to compensate.

The Debate There has long been a debate about what the minimum wage should be Many on the left argue that full time employees should not have to live in poverty Many on the right argue that a raise in minimum wage will result in fewer hires and less hours
